Hosea 7

Brother, do you know these people? (Picture) We know the name of Robert Boyle, a pioneer of modern chemistry. Michael Faraday, the pioneer and inventor of the electric power generators. Sir Isaac Newton, inventor of the law of gravity. Louis Pasteur, the pioneer of bacteriology, vaccination and immunization. Sir Joseph Lister, the father of modern surgery. Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright, aviation pioneer.
Dear friends, we know them as persons of genius and managed to donate something very meaningful to the world. But there is one side that may often forgotten by us about the life of this famous scientist. Did you that in fact they are all listed as people who really believe in the truth of the Bible?
You know what the secret of success of scientists in this world? The secret is very, very rely on their Lord.
Today we want to talk about relying on God .... You speak about relying on God, theoretically it might be something easy to say, but in practice it's something that is difficult in practice. Not a few people believe that failure to practice the life that rely on the Lord. Not only are regular church members, but the servant of God having trouble can fully rely on God in his life and ministry.
Why rely on God is something difficult? Someone to rely on God difficulty caused by human sinfulness. So that human beings have a tendency to believe more in ourselves than God's ability. Humans will have more confidence in the ability of humans to God, humans will have more confidence in what is said by the Devil than in God. Humans sometimes have more confidence in something bessifat material from the Lord, people have more confidence in something which, according to the logic right than to believe things that are supernatural that comes from God.
You speak about relying on God, then I found not a few people who stuck with the wrong attitude about relying on God:
I. Too rely on God
This kind of person he unwittingly ignore the role he and other people in his life. We must understand that relying on God does not mean that anything in our lives must be done by God and we become passive and do not try ... not .... Rely on God not mean we do not have the responsibility we have to do or no role at all .... No ... between us and God have their respective roles. There is a role we have to do there is the role of God.
Dear friends, One time there was an old lady who once believed in God, in a variety of things in her life she always asks for help and the help of God. One time a big flood and the mother prayed that God help him and save him. He prayed earnestly wait until the Lord come for help. While he was praying no one came and said to him, bu let's get into the boat, the greater the flood, but the mother was told I would not rely on humans, because I believe the Lord will come to help me, and rescuers came by helicopter, asking him to immediately go up helicopter, he said I did not want to, I have to wait until my Lord help me, after some time came a squad of rescuers and persuaded him so he boarded the boat but she did not want to, he wants the Lord himself who helped him.
Short stories these women died. After meeting with the Lord, he protested to the Lord. Lord you say that you are good, you are ready to help the children who trust you, but why not help me. God told him; my son I've sent someone to rescue you but you yourself would not insist on being helped, I had insisted on sending helicopters but you do not want to be helped, not just that when those times where you are going to die, I sent someone to rescue you but you still refuse offer.
I wore my son these people as an extension of my hand to help you but you refused my help. Civil sometimes rely on our Lord in speaking to an extreme stuck like this, we forget that God can use a variety of ways to help, protect and bless her children. God can use someone else to help us
2. Small problems can be overcome if we are to make God why bother.
Brother, God actually never felt bothered by a human, but sometimes people feel that they are so cumbersome God. Why is that? Because sometimes we put our feelings, or what became our habit to God.
For example people who do not want to be bothered with other people he also thinks that God like him. God does not want to be troubled by little things human. Instead God is very pleased with the children of God who would give up all the problems struggles in her life to Him. Thus proving that these people believe and rely on God.
Brother, relying on God means that we surrender our lives totally to God, not just the big things but every aspect of our lives.
3. Maybe God is not able to help us.
This person is a person who was desperate, he may have experienced the struggle was so heavy, he's been praying, but God seemed not to answer his prayer. It's not stuck there the road again, and is therefore looking for something that could help him. Because he felt that God was not able to help themselves.
For example: A person who is sick or experiencing severe problems, he has to pray and seek treatment anywhere, but the pain does not heal eventually he went shaman or loya to heal the pain.
Mr. God's always ready to help us, but in certain cases God allows us to face the struggles and challenges in our lives, for the purpose and plan a greater role in our lives.
Therefore, when we experience various problems tribulations, we've been praying but if God does not answer our prayers, is not mean God is not able to help or would not help us, but through it God has a plan for us. What is certain sooner or later it must have God's help.
4. People who did not rely God.
The reason there are many things, maybe something can disandari, where he felt that no God, he could do himself. Or is there something that can become the grip and foothold in his life. Is it wealth, intelligence, power, and others.
Lord Jesus in Luk.12 :13-21 tells a parable about a rich fool. The rich have a lot of land and the result so much. Then he says in his heart, he told me that my soul do you have a lot of stuff, piled up for many years, rest, eat drink and be merry. But the Word of God says to him, O thou who fool, this night your soul will be taken from you, and what you provide to anyone that later.?
Dear friends, we return to our reading of this, readings were we talking neighbor sins of the leaders of Israel, the field of religion and state. They do something that hurts the heart of God.
In chapter 7 of this talk are two things about the leaders or government officials:
First: Talk about the sins of government officials;

Brother, behavior Israeli officials truly nauseating. Three times in Hosea 7:4, 7:6 and 7:7, Hosea said that they like the kitchen fireplace, like an oven and was like an oven. Second: do not rely on God Sin 7:8-12
Brother some time ago we had discussed about the sins of Israel. One very important connection with their sin is that they adopt the culture of a foreign culture, including religion in the lives of foreigners into Israel. So that idolatry is not something that hit the drum for God's chosen people. Even in the territory of Israel there are many places of idolatry.
Culture of idolatry in the hills and mountains has been followed by the king of Israel and all his people. In terms of worship, they think they should decide their own to the gods anywhere, and in the hills seem any more promising expectations, so they were shown to be a round bread that is not reversed. In other words, Israel is a round bread that have been charred by fire and can not be eaten. Israel has damaged the nation's life, so can not enjoy the favor. It also illustrates that soon they will be burned by the wrath of God.
What are the causes of God's people worship idols? There are many things that cause God's people to worship idols, but the main cause why the Israelites to worship idols, is that they do not have faith in will power and God's help. They think God can not they lean. They do not believe that the God they worship can be relied upon? They do not believe that God could help them. Or in other words they do not rely on God.
What evidence does not mengandakan God of Israel?
The first evidence they do not rely on God is to worship idols.
Why do they worship idols?, Because according to them barhala idols can help them out of the problems in their lives.
Applications: Brother today we see that there are still so many people say believe in God but do not have confidence in the power and help of God in their lives. They do not rely on God, but rather rely on something outside of God, a more promising and which became idols for them.
Brother, when we speak of idols, then we not only think that the worship of idols means we go to the temples of idols, to the place where the worship of idols, to the mountain Kawi ... .. not a servant of God ever says that in fact the biggest idol is ourselves .
Someone more easily rely on ourselves, rather than relying on God, someone more confident that he is able to help themselves from God.
Brothers, each of us is basically pagan idols where are ourselves. Humans are sometimes more self glorifying of the Lord. Relatives who are often involved in motivational seminars, often we motivate ourselves, with the words' I can 'I can' So sometimes unwittingly humanism that emerged within ourselves. And we become ourselves as God over our lives.
When these idols that need to be removed from the Christian life is not a statue or tree but sacred self. Idols that need to be removed from us is our personal ambition, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. This is an idol that must be destroyed if we want to be used by God to be effective.
Actually, our biggest enemy is not the devil but our fleshly desires or ourselves. Satan could enter and affect a person only when he was given the loopholes and opportunities. To every man is tempted by his own desires, because she was dragged and enticed by it. And if that desire has conceived, she gave birth to sin; and if the sin was done, she gave birth to Death (James 1:14-15).
The biggest idol is ourselves. Where we are relying on ourselves than God, more faith in the ability of self from God.
The second proof that Israel does not rely on God when experiencing pressure from surrounding nations they do not seek help of God, but to the nation of Egypt and Assyria.
By cemented himself as a king in Israel, the king Menahem ask for help to Assyria, even though he had to pay tribute not few in number. Similarly, when the king Hoshea son of Elah (King of North Israel = Judah) experienced confinement of Assyria, Hosea whom must pay tribute to the king of Hosea directs his gaze toward Egypt. Hosea ask for help So, king of Egypt to escape the confinement of Assyria.
However, in the midst of pressure from outside the urging of his kingdom, the king of Hosea actually committed a foolish diplomacy, because precisely at that time Egypt has been internally divided and a little alone can give relief to the Israelis. That is why the prophet Hosea said that they had become "pigeon" idiot, no intelligence (Hosea 7:11).
Gentlemen, when Israel thinks they're flying high like a bird with strong wings, because there are no Egyptian or Assyrian with them and they can be proud of, yet at the same time the Lord through the prophet Hosea had prophesied about the coming punishment the nation.
Brothers, when they rely on Egypt and Assyria, which will help them, actually they're not growing stronger, because it was also God's punishment to them ditimpahkan.
In verse 12, God says I will spread my net upon them; I'll lose them like the birds in the air, I will chasten them for their crimes.
Brother, greeting the prophet Hosea is not a figment, because then there is the anger Salmaneser, king of Assyria to Hosea son of Elah king, because King Hosea attitudes. Assyrians invaded and oppressed Israel for three years until Israel completely surrender to him. Eventually what happens is robbed Samaria, Israel deported thousands to the area north of Mesopotamia, and Israel was divided into provinces of the kingdom of Assyria (II King 17:1-6) and cause the destruction of the kingdom of North Israel.
Israeli brothers have been leaning to the understanding and its own strength, not to the power of God. That is why, God punish them. They would rather rely on other nations, rather than to God.
Brothers rely on human beings is something sin abomination to God, that's the same as insulting God. The people of Israel / Judah belittles God with more confidence to the strength of the Assyrians and the Egyptians to the Lord.
Whereas before this tells Hosea, the prophet Isaiah and Jeremiah had told them; in Jeremiah 17:5 "Woe to those who rely on humans, who rely on its own strength, and whose hearts are moved away from the LORD!" .
"Woe to those who went to Egypt for help, who rely on the horses, who believe in the carriage of so many, and the horsemen are so large in number, but it does not look to the Holy One of Israel, and not seek the LORD. ... ... because the Egyptians are men, not gods, and their horses is a weak creature, not the spirit of the ruling. When the LORD stretches out His hand, tergelincirlah who helped and assisted fall, and they all will perish together. " (Isaiah 31:1-3)
On the other hand Jeremiah also says:
"Blessed are those who rely on the Lord, who put his hope in the Lord! He would like trees planted at the water's edge, the propagation roots to the edge of the water rod, and who did not experience the coming hot, the leaves are still green, that does not worry in the dry year, and that does not stop producing fruit. "
Jeremiah 17:7-8
From this passage we learn that at least there are three blessings that we will receive when we rely on God in our lives:
1. Her life will never be short (paragraph 8a & b); People who rely on the Lord will be like a tree planted at the edge of the trunk water who always get fresh food source for survival and intact
2. His life is not overwhelmed with anxiety (Paragraph 8c); People who expect and rely on God will never feel afraid for his life, because he knows God will keep him at any time. Although there are many challenges in her life struggles, he will not feel afraid for his life, because he knew that God would be maintaining their lives.
3. Her life always produces fruit (paragraph 8c); People who rely on the Lord of his life will always bear fruit, both spiritual fruit (spiritual) and physical buah2 (Material)

Brothers rely on God in our lives is the key to life blessed and successful. Rely on God is key to the strength we can live in this world full of trials and tribulations of this.
Therefore, as believers we should reflect back to life and our faith. How far do we rely on God in our lives. It relies on God is difficult, so sometimes we find one can only rely on God at that time a person is weak and powerless, but if her life better, stronger and richer, then patted his chest and he began to calculate the power and reputation. We begin to rely on ourselves and forget the God who has blessed
Brothers, through the Word of God today we learned, to rely on God in all circumstances, good or good, happy or not happy. When we're rich or poor, strong or weak when we are we still rely on God. Because as human beings, as powerful as any of us, we have so many limitations and shortcomings. We need God to be a support and helpers in our lives. Amen
